FAQ Hair

Do I have to get my hair cut every 4-6 weeks? Why?
Getting your hair cut every 4-6 weeks helps maintain your style. Hair grows at an average of 1/4-1/2 inch every month.

Does trimming my hair make it grow longer?
Trimming your hair keeps the ends from splitting helping to grow healthier hair.

Does it really matter what kind of product I use on my hair?
Yes it does. Inferior product builds up on your hair, attracting and trapping pollutants and weighing it down.

How can I make my hair color last longer?
There are specific products chemically designed for making your color last longer, ask your stylist for a recommendation.

What kind of hair extensions do you use?
We use a hair-locking system with 100% human hair.

FAQ Massage

I've never gotten a massage before, what can I expect?
Please arrive 10 minutes early to fill out an initial intake form. After that, your massage therapist will conduct you to the treatment room and discuss what you feel needs to be addressed in your session.

Do I have to be completely undressed for my massage?
No you do not. Some people are comfortable disrobing completely for their massage but not everybody is. No matter if you leave your underwear on or take it off you will be properly draped the entire time with nothing showing that shouldn't be. At most, the sides of the gluteal muscles (muscles of the butt) will be showing but absolutely no more than that.

Will I receive the full amount of time for my 30, 60, or 90 minute massage?
Yes you will. As long as you arrive in time for your massage to begin at your appointed time we will be able to accomodate the entire session. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled time to ensure that your appointment can begin in a timely manner.

Do your products contain parabens?
No they do not. During the massage we use either Jojoba Oil or any of the various Aveda Oil Compositions which consist of essential oils with a base made of jojoba oil.

What is a Hot Stone Massage?
Hot Stone Massage is a modality using basalt stones heated to 130-140°F in the therapists hands to preform the massage. The hot stones help to relax the superficial muscle layers for easier access to the deeper layers. Hot stone creates vasodilation increasing circulation so if you have high blood pressure you should not receive a hot stone massage. Please note that here at Eclips we sanitize all equipment in between clients.

Can I get a massage if I am pregnant?
Getting a massage during pregnancy is wonderful as long as you are not having a difficult pregnancy. It is recommended that you get a written note from your Dr. ensuring that massage is not contraindicated.

What do I do during a massage session?
The point of your session is to relax and enjoy your body treatment. Some people feel more comfortable making conversation and some people would rather close their eyes and relax. Your therapist will follow your lead as to whether or not you would like conversation. Sometimes, particularly with Deep Tissue and Injury Rehabilitation you will need to provide feedback to your therapist to ensure the pressure isn't too much for you. Please be sure speak up if the room is too hot or too cold, if you have any questions, if you are experiencing any pain, or if there is anything you forgot to mention during your intake.

When should I NOT get a massage?
Do not schedule yourself a massage if you have the following conditions: fever, contagious illnesses including cold and flu no matter how mild, under the influence of drugs or alchol, recent operations or acute injuries, neuritis, skin diseases, open or healing wounds, burns, bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication, deep-vein thrombosis, fractures, severe osteoporosis, or severe thrombocytopenia.

An erection during massage is not a big deal. If it is something that you are concerned about it can be a good idea to wear compression shorts for containment.

Does massage therapy hurt?
Massage is not supposed to be painful. If your therapist is using too much pressure let them know so they can adjust it. A good experience for you is a good experience for us.

Am I expected to tip my massage therapist?
Gratuity is appreciated but not expected. Normal gratuity runs along 20%.

FAQ Nails

What is a manicure?
A manicure is a service for your hands & natural nails. Includes exfoliation of the hands, relaxing hand massage, and cuticle work. The nautural nails are then buffed, shaped, and polished using an OPI Nail Polish of your choice. This service does NOT add length to your nails.

What is a pedicure vs. express pedicure?
A pedicure is our total foot service: a footsoak in our jetted pedicure bowls, exfoliation, relaxing massage, callus removal, cuticle work, buffing, shaping, and polishing of the toenails.

An express pedicure is a nice 'filler' service between full pedicures. This service includes everything except exfoliation, massage, and callus removal.

What are gel nails?
A full set of gel nails, often referred to as 'fake' nails, is an artificial nail service in which a plastic nail 'tip' is adhered to the natural nail and trimmed to the desired length. A gel is then applied to fill in the nail and seal the tip to the natural nail. This service can be in French (with a white tip) or polished with a color. This is the ONLY service that adds length to the natural nail.

How often is upkeep required on gel nails?
Gel nails need to be filled every 2 weeks.

What is gel color?
OPI Gel Color is a service comparable to "Shellac", often referred to as the '2-Week Manicure'. This service begins with buffing and shaping the naural nail and cuticle work. A gel is then applied to the natural nail and cured with an LED light. Gel Color can be in color or French and does NOT add any length to the nail.

FAQ Eyelash Extensions

What do they look like, and how do they feel?
With the proper application, eyelash extensions look and feel completely natural!

How long do they last?
Eyelash extensions can last up to 2 months depending on your natural growth cycle.

Can I swim, shower, exercise or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?
Yes. The adhesive used allows you to do all of these things-worry free!

Can I use an eyelash curler on my extensions?
You should not use a mechanical eyelash curler, as they can permanently damage your eyelash extensions. We encourage you to use a heated curler that uses gentle heat to curl the eyelashes into place.

How do I care for my eyelash extensions?
Care must be taken not to rub or scratch the eyes. Also, any creams, eye makeup removers, lotions, or cleansers containing glycols, oils, or carbonates can loosen the bond of the extensions. Care must be taken to apply eye cream sparingly with the avoidance of the lash line area.

Can I wear mascara?
Water soluble mascara can be worn; however, constant use of mascara may shorten the life-span of the lashes. Waterproof mascara is not recommended, as it will dissolve the bond with the eyelashes.

Can I still wear makeup?
Yes, but you shouldn't need mascara, and you may find that you won't need to wear eyeliner. Eyeliner and eye shadows can still be used as usual. Remember to remove makeup with a product that does not contain oil of any kind, as it will affect the adhesive. It is recommended to remove eyeliner using a damp cotton pad and a small amount of eye makeup remover. To remove eye shadow, use a cotton wipe dampened with water and eye makeup remover. Gently remove eye shadow in a side and upward movement, not down onto the eyelash extensions. Wiping down toward the lashes will cause a buildup on the lashes and may shorten the life of them.

I had eyelash extensions applied a few days ago, and a few have fallen out - why?
The lash has a growth cycle, and unfortunately, it is hard to determine which lash is ready to fall out naturally, so it is unpredictable when applying the lash extensions. Each day we can lose 3-5 natural lashes. Often they fall out unnoticed, but when eyelash extensions are applied, you are more aware of they shed, as they are longer, darker, and thicker.

Do I have to get a full set of eyelash extensions?
No, half sets are available. Half sets are suited to people who have naturally thick and dark lashes. They are not suitable for fair-lashed people or those who do not have many lashes.

Are the eyelash extensions glued to the skin?
No, they are adhered approximately 1mm from the eyelid.

Can eyelash extensions be removed?
Yes, at any time for any reason they can be removed. The extensions are easily and safely removed by using a glue remover.

Why is thyroid medication a contraindication?
One of the reactions of someone using thyroid medication is thinning and/or losing of hair. Therefore, the technician can damage the client's natural lashes.
